We’re at GDC This Week! Come Meet our Team

This week, members of our team will be attending the Game Developers Conference (GDC) — one of the most important gatherings in the video game industry. Each year, developers, studios, artists, educators, and technologists from around the world come together to share ideas, present their work, and explore how games continue to evolve as both a creative medium and a professional pathway.
At GDC, we’re not just bringing a game. We’re bringing a learning model.
We’ll be sharing Threadbare, our open-source game project, along with the game-making community that helps build it. Threadbare is designed so learners don’t only play — they participate. Community members collaborate with mentors and developers, contribute art, writing, testing, and code, and see their work become part of a real, living game.
Through our Games & Learning programs, participants develop technical and creative skills while also practicing collaboration, communication, and project coordination. The goal is not only to understand how games work, but to understand how software and creative projects are built in real teams.
GDC gives us a chance to connect with developers, educators, and organizations interested in open-source collaboration and new approaches to teaching real-world skills through game development. We’re especially excited to meet people who may want to mentor, contribute, or explore partnerships around Threadbare and our learning experiences.
After the conference, we’ll update this post with reflections and insights from Sarah, Senior Game Producer for Threadbare, and Justin, Learning Lead, who will share what they observed, what conversations stood out, and what we learned from the broader game development community while being at the booth presenting the game.
We’ll also add photos and highlights from the event once the team returns.
If you’re attending GDC and would like to connect, we’d love to meet you.
Stay tuned — this post will be updated with their report back from the conference.
